School AIDS Awareness Programme: July-March 2004

Jan. 17   Day 1:
An AIDS awareness workshop for the Principals and one designated teacher from each school. The J&K Minister of Education, Harsh Dev Singh, inaugurates the program. 
Jan. 18

Day 2:
An AIDS awareness workshop for the designated teacher and two designated peer educators from each school.  A comprehensive presentation is given  [PowerPoint presentation, requires Microsoft Internet Explorer], with handouts and a quiz to test pre- and post-presentation knowledge.   The workshop is held at the Jammu Polytechnical Auditorium, from 9AM to 4PM.

Jan. 19- Feb. 27 mid-Jan. to mid-Feb.:
Visits are made by program officers to 28 different schools as part of the School AIDS Program.  Presentations on HIV/AIDs are given to students in 9, 10, 11, and 12 standards.

Jan. 7-Feb. 5 mid-Feb to early Mar.:
In the following weeks, addition visits are made, with follow-up presentations and question-and-answer sessions.
