SCOPE is presently comprised of a core team of 18
advocates, academics,
retired civil servants, retired officers, and other citizens
of the Jammu & Kashmir State, India.
n December
2005, SCOPE began a Dairy Development Project in Akhnoor and Khour Blocks in
collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board.
The project has brought self-sustaining income
generation to the Akhnoor and Khour Blocks, which have
remained under-developed due to their distance from Jammu
City. By pooling resources under this NDDB-sponsored
cooperative, the local dairy producers have be able to chill
and truck their products to the Jammu City market. |

We have also commenced a weekly program
with Womens' Self-Help Groups in collaboration with
the Centre for Women Studies, University of Jammu in order
to strengthen our SHGs. These SHGs would ultimately be
integrated into Dairying for income generation. We hope that
ultimately with economic empowerment, the status of the
women in the area of operation would improve.
SCOPE
will soon commence a project on Good Governance in
collaboration with the Partnership for Transparency Fund,
designed to combat corruption through Public Interest
Litigation in the J&K High Court and promotion of the Right
to Information. |
